Speaker Bio
Tori Lyon is the Chief Executive Officer of the Jericho Project, a nationally-acclaimed nonprofit fighting homelessness in New York City. Since taking the helm at Jericho first as Executive Director in 2005 and then as Chief Executive Officer in 2016, Tori has significantly grown the organization’s strategic offerings and impact, today serving 3,000 individuals, families, young LGBTQ+ adults, and veterans, with nine supportive housing residences, apartments and employment and family support programs across the city.
Jericho currently provides over 625 units of housing in New York City which includes 485 units across seven residential buildings and 80 single adult and 60 family apartments scattered throughout the Bronx. In 2024, Jericho added a new element to its housing access portfolio by beginning to serve 90 unsheltered individuals per year over a three-year grant period, as part of the HUD funding to the New York City Continuum of Care (CoC) for the Unsheltered Homeless Initiative. Looking forward, Jericho is involved in projects representing over 2,600 new or preserved units of affordable housing over the next five years, including 1,000 supportive housing units with services provided by Jericho.
One example of Tori’s visionary approach to solving homelessness is Jericho’s Veterans Initiative, begun in 2007 when she foresaw the rising need to enable veterans to return to civilian life with dignity. Jericho has been instrumental in New York City’s national leadership in significantly reducing veterans homelessness. Tori served on the Executive Committee for the New York City Coalition on the Continuum of Care Veterans Task Force as well as on Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Task Force to guide the city’s plan to build 15,000 units of supportive housing.
Ms. Lyon serves on the Board of the Supportive Housing Network of New York (SHNNY).
Jericho and Tori have been recognized for excellence, with the 2017 Nonprofit of the Year Award by New York Housing Conference, the Brava! Award by Smart CEO in 2016, and the SHNNY Best Supportive Housing Award for Kingsbridge Terrace.
A graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, she brings her keen business sense to Jericho, ensuring donors and partners of its efficient use of funds.
